Forest School

Our Forest School

Exciting News!  Our Forest School opened in May 2021 introducing our Sunshine Pre-School children to a wide variety of activitives and experiences within a natural learning environment.

Where is the Pre-School Forest School?

The Forest School Lead, Mrs. Adamson, takes the children in small groups, 6-8 children, with their Key Person to the 'Imaginarium', less than 50 metres away from the Pre-School building.  It is an enclosed learning environment with lots of trees, wild flowers, other plants and mini beasts.

When will my child go?

The children will leave the Pre-School after morning or afternoon registration and spend two hours within the Imaginarium before returning to the Pre-School.  They will go in all types of weather provided that it is safe to do so.  Parents will be notified of the dates their child will be attending at the start of each term.

What will my child be doing and learning?

  • Introducing ourselves to Grandma Tree.
  • Exploring the area using all our senses.
  • Discovering the plants that grow there, their names and how to find out about them using reference books.
  • Thinking about the animals that might live in our Imaginarium Forest.
  • Hunting for bugs and mini bests, learning their names and looking at them under magnifying glasses.
  • Building shelters for ourselves and for the animals.
  • Making cakes and mud pies in the Forest Kitchen.
  • Playing games and listening to stories.
